Dwarf Citrus Nagami Kumquat

Dwarf Citrus Nagami Kumquat

The Dwarf Nagami Kumquat (Citrus japonica ‘Nagami’) is a compact, slow-growing evergreen citrus tree well suited to containers or small gardens, typically reaching around 1–2 metres in height. It features dense, glossy green foliage, fragrant white blossoms, and produces small, oval bright orange fruit with a sweet edible skin and tart inner flesh.

Key Characteristics & Care:

  • Fruit: Small, oblong fruit with a vibrant orange, aromatic peel; typically in season from autumn through winter.
  • Flavour: Distinct sweet-and-sour profile—sweet skin contrasted with sour, acidic flesh.
  • Size: Generally stays compact (around 1–2 metres when grafted on dwarfing rootstock such as Flying Dragon), making it ideal for pots and ornamental use.
  • Growth/Care: Performs best in full sun with well-drained soil; benefits from regular feeding with citrus fertiliser during the warmer months.
